About

Finding that balance is a few steps away ........

You are making that first move towards a new life of hope and re-writing your story! Do you want more out of your life and your relationships? Perhaps you simply want to change old patterns and find better ways of coping or becoming the more authentic you. I can help. As a therapist with roots of many years in the medical field as a nutritionist, I have a unique perspective on the "why" you soothe past hurts with food , substances , people- pleasing or avoidance through overwork . As a digestive disease dietitian- I have discovered a two-way connection between our physical and behavioral health . Without a healthy outlet for the stress- it can show up as heartburn , bowel changes , headaches or inflammation throughout our system. Let's not overlook the effects of those coping substances and practices on our health down the road of life. My years in health care have shaped my view of the pivotal role our self-care ,values, beliefs, support systems can play in the healing process. You have the power to make changes . However, some roads aren't meant to be travelled alone. You need that objective person to provide impartial guidance consistent with your values and with a knowledge of good health practices to provide that service . Friends, family, coworkers mean well but have their own emotional view of you. I have helped those struggling with the physical and emotional adjustment to chronic medical conditions such as: Infertility Diabetes or PCOS Gut inflammation (GERD, IBS, IBD) Post-Covid effects- whether autoimmune or cardiovascular POTS (Postural Orthostatic Hypotension) EDS (Ehlers Danlos) EoE (Eosinophilic Esophagitis) Organ transplants Cancer Stroke, Parkinson’s , neurological conditions Kidney and Liver disease It was my years of experience in Bariatrics observing post-surgical weight regain and disordered eating which spurred my interest in behavior and relationships. Our weight reflects our genetics and our life struggles......and emotional triggers for the weight changes are as important as the food itself. I work with individuals, couples, and families. As the sibling of a physician whose life was cut short by esophageal cancer , another brother surviving a stroke and relatives with Parkinson's and Dementia, I understand the emotional impact on patient and caregiver as well. I will provide a safe, supportive place to tell your story and to explore those parts of your past which are holding you back from moving forward to a life of connection, wellness, and purpose. I welcome the opportunity to work with medical professionals, first responders and caregivers who give countless hours in support of others and who must carry on after they are gone. If you have questions about the process or want to see if the "fit" is right for you- please contact me today! I offer in-person, Telehealth or Telephone visits for your convenience.
